At Abbeyfield Winchester, we would like all our residents to have the opportunity to live their life as independently as possible, and to continue enjoying their hobbies and activities. We aim to offer our residents an active and social environment.
There is always something to do, from morning tea and coffee, games, quizzes and entertainment, and when the weather is good we have trips out. We also hold regular residents meetings, which are well attended and give our residents the opportunity to have their say.
We offer regular activities and events that are organised by the staff and our wonderful volunteers. The monthly calendar of social activities includes outings to places of local interest, such as the Watercress Line, Hilliers Arboretum, the Solent Dolphin trip and visits to a local garden centre. Friends and relatives are welcome to join us on these trips.
Other activities include: poetry reading, quiz evenings, film shows, pub lunches with volunteers, entertainment from visiting groups and individuals, shopping trips to Sainsburys, Holy Communion led by a local church, games and puzzles, summer garden party and Christmas party.
Our House Manager also takes into account the views of residents when arranging the monthly calendar of activities. The activities take place in both houses, and the gardens and many are suitable for residents to invite friends and relatives to participate in. Every effort is made to enable residents to continue with their hobbies and interests.
“We are well cared for by superb staff and our every need is catered for. We enjoy varied talks and discussion groups which keeps the brain ticking over.” Rosemary & Eric Edwards
